What is Direction?

The answer of this question lies in the belt of 360 degrees divided in 16 directions. Spreading of Vastu Purush Mandala in the form of diffrent energy fields. The direction of life where you are lacking can be diagnosed in the particular spread of energy field, which in combine refers as the 16 division of 360 degree belt.

The major 4 Directions are North, South, East & West. The meeting points of these directions are called cardinal directions namely meeting point of North & East is Northeast, Meeting point of South & East is called Southeast. Meeting point of South & West are called Southwest. Meeting point of West & North are called Northwest. These 4 are the main Cardinal Directionsast.

And when the 8 divisions are further divided in 360-degree belt they form the 16 directions. The total 16 divisions are namely :-

Vastu Purusha and Five Elements Explanation

 1. Vastu Purusha pinned down facing earth with his head in the North-East direction and leg towards South-West direction. It was a collective effort of 45 Gods (including Brahma) to pin Vastu Purusha down. Imagine how powerful he was!

Vastu Purusha Mandala is divided in to 9×9= 81 parts, each part names the God holding Vastu Purusha down in respective part. There are 32 Gods in outer part and 13 Gods in inner part. This means that there is presence of different Gods in Vastu Purusha and each of these Gods rule different parts of a human life as per their qualities.

This is the reason why while making rooms in a home, we make sure not to offend any deity of that area. Vastu Shastra lays guidelines and principles to keep all deities happy at all times.

According to Vastu Shastra, if the house is designed as per the Vastu Purusha Mandala, a perfectly balanced environment, which ensures enhanced health, wealth and happiness, is created. 

2. Five Elements: This is actually based on scientific principles wherein, the five basic elements (Pancha Bhoota or Pancha Maha-Bhoota) of  Vastu Shastra :- 
1. Fire (Agni) 
2. Earth (Prithvi)
3. Space/Sky (Akash/Metal)
4. Water (Jal/Apas)
5. Air/Wood (Vayu)
And the sixteen directions are manipulated to create an atmosphere beneficial to man.

Vastu stands in Earth. Earth depends on Water-Water is balanced by Agni (Fire), Agni is controlled by Air (either). An air movement is possible in Akash (Sky). Similarly the Purusha-living beings. The body (earth) depends the water. Contents in the body balanced by the Agni (fire). The air controls agni-heat. Breathing which is possible only if we are having space (Akash) inside human body.
